Patrick O’Neal, Esquire is Of Counsel to Seiler Zaden Rimes and Wahlbrink.
J. Patrick O’Neal, was born and raised in Broward County and has been a practicing Attorney in Ft. Lauderdale since November 23, 1964.
He attended Stetson University in Deland Florida, and was elected Vice President of the Business college. He earned varsity letters in basketball and track while at Stetson, and was on the all-state basketball team his senior year. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Mangement.
After graduating from Stetson, Mr. O’Neal enrolled & attended Stetson University, College of Law in St. Petersburg . He was the Chief Student Librarian and won the Lawyers’ Title Insurance Fund’s award in his senior year. Upon graduation and passing the Florida Bar in 1964, he worked as one of four Assistant Public Defenders with the Broward County Public Defender’s office. He obtained great jury trial experience defending only felonies including 2nd degree murder. He switched sides and became a part-time Special Prosecutor with the Broward County Solicitors’s office where he prosecuted both misdemeanors & felonies. He prosecuted and defended felony 2nd degree murder jury cases during his tenure with both offices
In January of 1968, he entered full-time private of law and was joined by his former college roommate, L. Byrd Booth Jr.,with whom he practiced for 17 years, until Mr. Booth’s untimely death.
He has practiced transactional matters, preparation of wills & trusts, administration of trusts, probate of wills, residential and complex real estate transactions. Mr. O’Neal established Coral Ridge Title Co. in 2001, and operated it for 19 years handling both residential & commercial closings, examining title and issuing title insurance commitment & policies. He is well versed in conveyancing of property in the Bahamas, having owned property there since 1973.
He is a member of the Florida Bar Association & a “Life Time” member of the Broward County Bar Association since 1964. His law practice specializes in real estate, Wills, Trust and Probate Work. He has been admitted to the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, Trial Division since 1965. He has been a member of Attorney’s Title Fund (now Old Republic National Title Insurance Co. since October of 1965.
